Find EventsFilm4 Summer Screen: Get Out & They Live (cert 15)
Peele’s social chiller Get Out, an Oscar-winner for Best Original Screenplay, is so full of twists and surprises that multiple viewings are essential, especially in light of the filmmaker’s acclaimed follow-up Us.
An aspiring young black photographer, played by Daniel Kaluuya, has misgivings about meeting his white girlfriend’s parents even before they head off to the country for the weekend. Once they arrive, things quickly take a turn for the sinister as Peele layers on multiple levels of unease.
Take a break before you watch Carpenter’s They Live, a sci-fi satire that may appear cartoonish with its wrestling-star lead, alien invasion plot and B-movie special-effects, yet the film’s skewering of capitalism and consumerism remains as relevant and as much fun as it did back in the 1980s.
If you weren’t paranoid before coming to Somerset House for this double-bill, you will be by the time you leave!
